Our client at Hob Hill Cottage required our services to design and install a unique fireplace which merged in effortlessly with the property and its stone features.
We spent time with our client and discussed the style which would work best in the property, but also took in to consideration design elements the customer had researched and elements of our previous work. One of the main specifications was to use locally sourced stone, reducing the fireplaces carbon footprint.

Our proposal was made up of multiple avenues of research and consideration.
We took inspiration from Haddon Hall, Derbyshire, which allowed for us to propose a design which was lavish but subtle. We used the Haddon Hall fireplace as an initial inspiration, focussing on details such as the triple mould, mantel piece detailing and quirky, organic finish. This coupled with tweaks and delicate changes, enhanced the fireplace and where it was being situated within our clients home.

It was vital that we found a balance between inspiration gathered from such an historic fireplace and also features we, along with our client were passionate about.
We took the regal design aspects of the Haddon Hall fireplace and scaled these down to proportion to match the existing room. One of the ways we achieved this is by building the fireplace into the existing chimney breast, so it didn’t impose on the living space. We spent time designing our mouldings, and if you look closely these mouldings are slightly different sizes, giving this fireplace a one off design feature. We aim to incorporate such unique features on all of our designs, meaning each of our projects have a story to tell.

The installation of this fireplace transformed the living space at Hobb Hill Cottage.
By building the fireplace into the existing structure it meant that it looked and felt like it has always been there. As always, we worked closely with all beneficiaries, taking into careful consideration inspiration from historic work to achieve a timeless piece of craftmanship.
